LOCAL MCDONALD’S RAISE $20,000!

Published – June 20, 2024

The region’s tiniest patients just got a big boost from McDonald’s restaurants in Barrie with a donation of $20,000 raised on McHappy Day going to RVH’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) expansion.

RVH’s NICU is original to the site on Georgian Drive and is in urgent-need of expansion. Funds raised from McHappy Day will help add space and specialized equipment to care for babies who arrive as early as 10 weeks ahead of schedule. With Simcoe Muskoka’s population expected to double in the next 20 years, events like McHappy Day are critical towards pushing RVH’s NICU expansion forward.

“We’re so grateful for the enduring support from our local McDonald’s owners through events like McHappy Day,” says Pamela Ross, CEO, RVH Foundation. “Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all the staff, volunteers, and community members for their support of the NICU. Your generosity will help RVH deliver advanced, life-saving care in a space that has the room parents and babies need to bond and heal together, closer to home.”

McDonald’s restaurant owners, Jennifer and Jason O’Neil, and Trevor and Andrea McKee, want Simcoe-Muskoka families to have the best possible start in life.

“It is important for us to give back to organizations that help strengthen our communities,” says Jason O’Neill, McDonald’s Restaurant owner/operator. “Families in our community deserve to have exceptional, compassionate care available in their own backyards, especially when they’re first starting out. RVH’s NICU makes this possible.”

Adds Trevor McKee, McDonald’s Restaurant owner/operator: “Our teams worked so hard to create a special day in support of RVH’s NICU. Year after year, our community comes out to support this incredible cause – we can’t thank our guests enough for their support of McHappy Day.”

Over the past 10 years, Barrie McDonald’s Restaurants have raised over $250,000 in support of RVH through fundraisers like McHappy Day. For more information on how you can help RVH grow and support families in Simcoe Muskoka, click the link below.
